Brad Ruben captured his fifth World Series of Poker bracelet after taking down Event #10: $1,500 No-Limit Deuce-to-Seven Single Draw Lowball, adding $138,080 to his career earnings. The win came after outlasting a 532-player field, pushing his total live cashes to over $2.8 million.
Good to know
- Ruben now joins a group of just 43 players in poker history with five WSOP bracelets.
- He has won all five titles in under five years, across multiple poker formats.
- Ruben is known for his mixed-game skills and deep commitment to mental health awareness.
The Florida-based pro made his first bracelet run in 2020 in an online PLO event and has steadily built a decorated WSOP resume ever since. With wins in Razz, Dealer’s Choice, and PLO already under his belt, this latest title came in yet another poker variant—deuce-to-seven single draw.
Ruben entered Day 3 second in chips behind Han Liu, with just five players remaining. All but two had prior WSOP hardware. Ruben made an early move by hero-calling with a pair of fours to close the gap and gain momentum.
Brian Yoon, also a five-time bracelet winner, was the first to fall, finishing fifth for $29,228. After eliminating Yoon, Jun Weng could not maintain his momentum and busted next for $41,654. He ran into the made 8-low of Yueqi Zhu, who had already secured over $3.8 million in career earnings before his third-place finish ($60,738). Zhu’s run ended when his two-card draw could not overcome Ruben’s pat 10-low.
Heads-up play began with Liu holding the chip lead, but Ruben slowly worked his way back. He took control with a pat 10-9-7-6-3 and never looked back. The key hand came after Ruben four-bet pre-draw, stood pat with 8-6-5-3-2, and snap-called Liu’s all-in move. Liu had drawn one with a pair of sixes and missed completely.
On the final hand, Ruben raised from the button and both players drew one. Liu led the post-draw betting, Ruben shoved, and Liu called with 10-9-7-6-5. Ruben showed 9-7-6-3-2 to lock up the bracelet. Liu earned $90,569 for his second-place finish.
After the win, Ruben reflected on what drives him at the table and in life. “I love all the mixed games so to win another bracelet in another variant is a blessing,” he told PokerNews. He also spoke about the significance of the green sweater he wore—a nod to mental health awareness. “Whatever people are going through, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel,” he said. “I’m happy to talk to anyone, at any time, about whatever.”
