Poker fans can look forward to a big summer as the World Poker Tour heads back to the Las Vegas Strip. A guaranteed $4 million prize pool will be up for grabs at the WPT Venetian Las Vegas Championship in July. So if you are at the WSOP, why not extend your stay and join.
Good to know
- The tournament runs from July 11 to 17 at The Venetian Resort.
- Buy-in is $5,000 with a livestreamed final table.
- The event returns after last being held in 2022.
Set to take place from July 11 to 17, the WPT Venetian Las Vegas Championship promises high stakes and top-tier action. Players will compete in a $5,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament, with the final table to be livestreamed directly from The Venetian’s high-tech poker studio.
WPT CEO Adam Pliska said, “The Venetian has been home to some incredible WPT moments over the years. We are honored to bring the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup back to such a revered venue.”
This year’s tournament adds to the growing legacy between The Venetian and the World Poker Tour. The resort first hosted a WPT event in 2019, when Ben Palmer secured the inaugural title. In 2022, Robert Mizrachi, a five-time WSOP bracelet winner, outlasted a field of 1,178 players to win $894,100 and his first WPT title.
Tommy Larosa, Director of Poker Operations at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, said the poker space has changed since the last WPT event was held there. “The Venetian Poker Room has been completely transformed since the last time WPT was with us in 2022,” he said. “Our new room, the largest on the Las Vegas Strip, provides players with an elevated experience and adding the WPT Championship event to the DeepStack Championship Poker Series further expands the offering for players this summer.”
In 2021, The Venetian hosted two WPT main events. Qing Liu won $752,880 in March after beating 937 entries, while Chad Eveslage earned $910,370 and his second WPT title by coming out on top of a 1,199-entry field in July.
