Mike Dreitzer Named Chairman of Nevada Gaming Control Board

Mike Dreitzer will soon step into a new public role. Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo announced that Dreitzer will lead the Nevada Gaming Control Board as Chairman starting June 23. His move comes as Kirk Hendrick prepares to step away from the position he has held since early 2023.

Good to know

  • Mike Dreitzer has served as Deputy Attorney General in Nevada, advising both major state gaming bodies.
  • He will leave his position at Gaming Arts on June 23 to lead the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
  • The appointment fills the remaining 18 months of Kirk Hendrick’s original four-year term.

Dreitzer, currently CEO of Gaming Arts, will wrap up his work there over the coming weeks. He will continue supporting the company through a planned merger with Merkur Gaming and assist with leadership changes before transitioning fully into his new role.

The governor highlighted Dreitzer’s deep roots in the industry, noting his long track record in gaming compliance. “Mike has an extensive background in gaming compliance and brings decades of industry experience to the role,” said Lombardo. He also stated his belief that Dreitzer will guide the board with integrity and a strong sense of duty.

Dreitzer shared his appreciation for the appointment and the chance to lead one of the most respected regulatory agencies in the gaming sector. “I’m grateful to Governor Lombardo for his confidence in me,” said Dreitzer. His path to this role includes leadership positions at Ainsworth Game Technology and BMM Americas. Earlier in his career, he also served as a Deputy Attorney General in Nevada, where he provided legal advice to the Nevada Gaming Control Board and the Nevada Gaming Commission.

The transition has received a warm welcome from Hendrick, who expressed confidence in Dreitzer’s ability to step in without disruption. According to Hendrick, the two have known each other for over thirty years, which will make the handover easier.

Dreitzer will complete the remainder of Hendrick’s current term, which runs for another 18 months. His combination of legal expertise and hands-on industry experience makes him a strong fit for the role as Nevada continues shaping the future of gaming regulation.
