With the grand inauguration of the $650 million Caesars Virginia in Danville, poker fans in southern Virginia now have an exciting new location. By combining luxury and top-notch gaming in one place, the resort, which is ideally situated close to the North Carolina border, hopes to draw gamblers from both states.
Caesars Virginia had a lavish launch celebration last week. The festivities, which included a breathtaking fireworks show and a colorful vehicle procession, began when NBA icon Dennis Rodman placed the ceremonial first bet. Officially introducing the newest addition to their portfolio, Caesars Entertainment officials attended the ceremony.
General Manager Chris Albrecht expressed pride in the project, saying, “This has been an impressive development project to see come together over the past couple of years, and we couldn’t be prouder to finally open the doors of this beautiful destination.”
World-Class Amenities and WSOP Action
Spanning 90,000 square feet, the casino offers a diverse range of gaming options, including a 24/7 sportsbook. Poker fans will appreciate the dedicated 4,900-square-foot World Series of Poker (WSOP) card room, featuring 21 tables, premium furnishings, and a permanent Poker Hall of Fame exhibit honoring legends of the game.
In addition to gaming, the resort boasts a 320-room luxury hotel, a spa, a pool, and 50,000 square feet of meeting space. Culinary offerings include multiple dining venues, such as an eatery by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Entertainment seekers can enjoy live performances at various venues on-site.
Caesars COO Anthony Carano highlighted the project’s alignment with the brand’s vision, stating, “This beautiful destination encompasses what the Caesars brand is all about.”
Since legalization in 2020, Virginia’s casino business has experienced remarkable growth. Caesars Virginia further establishes the state as a casino destination by joining properties in Bristol, Portsmouth, and Norfolk.
But in North Carolina, lawmakers are worried about possible revenue losses as a result of this expansion. Attempts to amend the Tar Heel State’s legislation have not yet succeeded, despite talks to add more gaming alternatives.
