MGM Resorts International is increasing engagement with Thailand through a partnership with Bangkok retail developer EM District. Initiative focuses on promoting Macau tourism while strengthening business ties between Thailand and MGM properties.
Partnership gained attention after MGM welcomed more than 50 Thai business leaders to its Macau resorts. Visit ended with a gala dinner at MGM Cotai attended by company executives and representatives from Macao Government Tourism Office.
Good to Know
EM District manages three major shopping complexes in Bangkok. Emporium, EmQuartier, and Emsphere will serve as marketing platforms where Macau tourism promotions will appear for Thai visitors.
MGM said the collaboration supports tourism goals set by the Government of Macau Special Administrative Region. Strategy focuses on attracting international visitors while strengthening Southeast Asia as an important travel market.
Thai business delegation visiting Macau explored several areas of MGM resort operations. Meetings included presentations on meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions facilities. Delegates also received briefings about a cross border exhibition model developed between Macau and Hengqin.
Group tours highlighted cultural landmarks across Macau. Delegates visited Senado Square, A-Ma Temple, Kuan Tai Temple, Kun Iam Temple, and Taipa Village while also touring art installations inside MGM properties.
Dr. Iwan Dietschi, Senior Vice President of Hospitality at MGM, said Thailand continues to grow as an important visitor market for the company.
“Thailand has become a remarkable market at MGM,” he said. “In 2025, we saw a 26% year-on-year increase in Thai hotel guests compared to 2024.”
Retail developer EM District also views the partnership as a chance to connect Thai businesses with Macau tourism and entertainment sectors.
“At EM District, we take pride in being ‘Extraordinary’. MGM shares the same values, and we see tremendous potential in Macau, which is fast becoming a world-class hub for lifestyle and high-end entertainment,” said Ittirit Ratanadaros Umpujh, Managing Director of Emporium. “Being part of this evolution alongside a visionary partner like MGM gives us great confidence in the path ahead.”
Umpujh said EM District plans to deepen cooperation between Thai companies and MGM while developing additional international partnerships tied to tourism and lifestyle industries.
