Massachusetts Casinos and Sportsbooks Report $105M in August Revenue

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has published its August results, highlighting steady performance from the state’s casinos and sportsbooks.

Encore Boston Harbor once again topped the list for casino earnings, reporting $65 million for the month—more than half of the statewide total. MGM Springfield followed with nearly $25 million in revenue, while Plainridge Park Casino contributed close to $15.1 million.

In total, slots generated $73.9 million, while table games brought in $31.1 million. Together, Massachusetts casinos paid about $29.9 million in taxes for August.

Sports Betting Handle

Sports betting activity produced a $545.3 million handle for the month. Online platforms were the clear driver, accounting for $537.4 million, while retail sportsbooks handled $7.9 million in wagers.

Casino

Taxable gaming revenue from online and retail betting reached $55.8 million. The state collected nearly $11.1 million in taxes from those bets, adding to the overall revenue stream from gambling activity.
