Online casino revenue in the United States continued to climb in April across all seven regulated states, combining for $868.6 million. Each state posted at least 25% year-over-year growth, with total revenue jumping 32.5% from April 2024.
Even after March’s record-setting numbers, momentum stayed strong. Known betting handle across the states hit $10.2 billion, though only five states reported drop figures.
Good to know
- Connecticut topped $1.6 billion in wagers for the third time in four months.
- Combined taxable revenue reached $787.9 million, sending $169.3 million to state governments.
- Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey all topped $200 million in revenue.
Connecticut’s tight two-operator market remains competitive. DraftKings pushed past $31.6 million in April revenue, a new monthly high, helped by $11 million in promotions and a 3.9% hold rate. FanDuel followed close behind with $29.2 million — a record, though only $30,000 more than March.
Altogether, Connecticut pulled in $61 million in revenue, a 47% increase from April last year. Year-to-date gross revenue sits at $225.1 million, with adjusted revenue contributing $8.3 million more in taxes than the same period in 2024.
Smaller states are holding their ground. Delaware, with BetRivers running operations since January, brought in $9.9 million, nearly doubling April 2024 totals. The $1.01 billion wagered so far in 2025 already covers more than half of last year’s full total.
Rhode Island, where Bally’s manages online casino gaming, posted $4.7 million — over twice what it reported in April 2024. March and April combined revenue hit $9.9 million, almost triple last year’s tally for the same period.
The big three states crossed a major line. Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey each cleared $200 million in gross and adjusted operator revenue — a first for all three in the same month. Pennsylvania led with $282.8 million, followed by Michigan at $248.1 million and New Jersey at $235.2 million. All three are on pace to cross the $1 billion taxable revenue mark once May figures arrive.
