Wynn Resorts has expanded its presence in the UK casino market by finalizing the acquisition of the historic Mayfair gaming club from Crown Resorts. With regulatory approvals now in place, the transaction is complete, adding another high-end property to Wynn’s growing international portfolio.
Good to know
- The Mayfair venue was once the White Elephant Club in the 1960s.
- The property features 20 gaming tables and multiple luxury salons.
- Wynn is also preparing to launch Wynn Al Marjan Island in the UAE in early 2027.
The UK Gambling Commission approved the necessary authorizations, clearing the way for Wynn Resorts to finalize its purchase of the iconic Mayfair casino from Crown Resorts. The move gives Wynn access to one of London’s most well-known luxury gambling spots.
A Property with Deep Roots
The venue originally operated under the name White Elephant Club and became a casino under the direction of John Aspinall, a well-known figure in British gaming and animal conservation. Over the decades, the club evolved into an upscale destination with a range of gaming options.
Guests at the club can enjoy 20 gaming tables spread out over the main floor, rooftop terrace, and six private salons. The interiors are decorated with antique pieces, elegant furniture, and a curated mix of classical and modern artwork.
Wynn Eyes Wider Global Reach
The addition of the Mayfair location helps Wynn reinforce its expansion plans outside the United States. The company is actively preparing for the debut of its upcoming resort, Wynn Al Marjan Island, in the United Arab Emirates. The resort is scheduled to open in early 2027 and marks Wynn’s entry into the Middle Eastern hospitality and gaming market.
