Michigan regulators are stepping up enforcement against unlicensed online gambling, taking direct aim at platforms bypassing the state’s legal framework. A group of six iGaming operators has been ordered to stop offering services in Michigan, raising concerns about user safety and regulatory compliance.
Good to know
The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has sent out cease-and-desist notices to Bonus Blitz Casino, DomGame, Royal Ace Casino, Slots Capital, Supernova Casino, and Wins Mania. These platforms were found to be operating in the state without official authorization.
State law requires that all online gambling operations be licensed through MGCB. The cited websites were found to be in breach of multiple laws, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and parts of the Michigan Penal Code.
Henry Williams, Executive Director of MGCB, made it clear that the state will not tolerate gambling platforms that avoid regulation. “These illegal operators often masquerade as legitimate gaming platforms, but they exist entirely outside the legal safeguards that protect consumers,” Williams said.
He also pointed out the risks players take when they use unlicensed platforms. “When Michiganders play on unlicensed sites, they’re placing their personal and financial security at risk—with little to no recourse if things go wrong,” he added.
The issue is more than just legal paperwork. Licensed operators in Michigan are required to follow strict rules around responsible gambling, data protection, and dispute resolution. The flagged sites do not follow these standards, exposing users to greater risks.
