Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the gambling regulator for the Netherlands, has discovered that Winbet is unlawfully providing online games of chance without the necessary license. Four websites have been used by the operator: Doctorspins.com, Superb1.bet, Winnercasino1.bet, and Galaxyspins.com. The Dutch market has not authorized the use of any of these sites.
KSA Investigation Uncovers Unlicensed Games
During its investigation, KSA discovered that it was possible for Dutch players to create accounts, deposit money, and participate in unlicensed games on Winbet’s platforms. The regulator noted that no technical measures were put in place to prevent access by Dutch players, which violates the country’s strict gambling regulations.
As a result, KSA has ordered Winbet to immediately cease all illegal operations within the Netherlands. If the operator fails to comply, it faces severe financial penalties.
Winbet Faces Heavy Fines
To enforce compliance, KSA has set a weekly penalty of €280,000, which will continue until the maximum fine of €840,000 is reached. The regulator aims to quickly halt illegal gambling activities, explaining, “The Netherlands has a regulated gambling market to better protect players. We are therefore taking tough action against illegal supply.”
KSA added that imposing penalties is often an effective method to stop unlicensed operators. Providers of illegal games of chance can also be fined for the entire period they have been active in the Dutch market.
Winbet is not the only operator facing action from KSA. Earlier this month, the regulator issued a similar warning to BlokDance for operating unlicensed games through two websites: bc.game and bcgame.lu. While BlokDance initially blocked Dutch players, KSA found they could still access the platforms.
BlokDance now faces the same weekly penalty of €280,000, with the total fine capped at €840,000, just like Winbet.
