WPT Global Introduces Mystery Bounty Tournaments and Announces $8.5M Fall Festival

WPT Global has recently rolled out a new feature, the Mystery Bounty tournament format, on their platform. This update comes just in time for the upcoming Fall Festival, which boasts the platform’s largest guaranteed prize pool of $8.5 million.

Mystery Bounty Tournaments Now Available

Players on WPT Global can now participate in Mystery Bounty tournaments. This new format adds a surprising twist to the usual bounty tournament structure. Unlike traditional bounty events, the amount of the bounty in these tournaments remains hidden until a player is eliminated. The $55 Lucky PKO $30,000 GTD tournament, which switched to this new format, saw its entry numbers skyrocket to 771, breaking previous records by over 130 entries.

How the Mystery Bounty Format Works

In the Mystery Bounty tournaments, players go through two main phases:

1. Beginning Phase: In this stage, players focus on accumulating chips without earning any bounties.
2. Bounty Phase: Once the money bubble bursts, the Bounty Phase begins. Each time a player eliminates an opponent, they receive a Mystery Chest, the contents of which are unknown until opened. Multiple chests can be won in a single hand, and in the event of split pots, bounties may be divided among the winners.

This format introduces a new level of strategy and excitement. Players can keep track of bounty distributions with a pop-out feature located in the top right corner of the table. To enhance the experience further, WPT Global has also added a new final table animation and theme, bringing a touch of WPT prestige to the endgame.

Cash Game Players See New Updates

WPT Global hasn’t forgotten its cash game players. A new update now requires players who leave a cash game and return within 30 minutes to buy in with the same amount they left with. This change applies to both No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE) and Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) games. In PLO5, players have the option to buy in with the same amount or more. This update aims to curb ratholing and ensure a fair playing field.

The $8.5M Guaranteed Fall Festival

The Fall Festival, running from September 8th to September 30th, is set to be WPT Global’s largest event to date. The festival features over $8.5 million in guaranteed prize pools, surpassing the previous $8 million guarantee of the Summer Festival.

Key events in the Fall Festival include:

• Mystery Bounty Tournaments: These will be a major focus, with $3 million in total guarantees. A new daily $110 buy-in event with a $40K guarantee is also part of the lineup.
• Slam Events: The $55 Lucky $30K and $110 Nightly $27.5K Slams have been updated to the Mystery Bounty format.
• Flagship Events: The $3,500 WPT Championship ($1M GTD), $1,060 WPT Prime ($750K GTD), and $530 WPT500 ($400K GTD) will offer substantial prize pools, giving players the chance to compete for large rewards.

Additionally, the Fall Festival includes a $50K freeroll, adding more value and opportunities for big wins.
