Rivers Casino Philadelphia, owned by Rush Street Gaming, has announced plans to add a 62-suite luxurious boutique hotel within The Battery, a vibrant mixed-use lifestyle complex located on Beach Street in Fishtown. This forthcoming Riversuites hotel will provide a one-of-a-kind guest experience by occupying four dedicated floors of The Battery’s current adaptive reuse venue—a first for a waterfront hotel in Philadelphia.
Riversuites will reimagine luxury accommodations by providing enormous guest suites that outnumber traditional hotel standards. These suites have an average of 854 square feet and larger options of up to 2,266 square feet. Guests can select from one, two, or three-bedroom rooms, each with a fully equipped kitchen. Terraces or split-level lofts are available in some apartment-style suites, with bedrooms upstairs and a kitchen and living room downstairs. The casino’s general manager, Eric Althaus, expressed excitement about the penthouse-style possibilities available only at Rivers Casino Philadelphia, adding that VIPs and out-of-town guests have long wanted overnight stays at the casino.
Riversuites will have breathtaking panoramic views of the Delaware River, which will extend beyond the coastlines of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, with the Ben Franklin Bridge as a prominent backdrop. Guests will be able to immerse themselves in the area’s vibrant cultural and gastronomic scene because the hotel is located in Fishtown, one of Philadelphia’s trendiest neighborhoods. Fishtown’s pedestrian-friendly streets are dotted with trendy cafes, restaurants, distilleries, craft breweries, art galleries, retail stores, and other recreational attractions, providing a lively and memorable stay.
Riversuites will offer a variety of innovative and traditional advantages in addition to its closeness to Fishtown, access to the casino, and breathtaking vistas. Coworking spaces, welcoming lobby gathering places, a pool table, and even an indoor basketball court will be available at the hotel. These amenities strive to provide guests with a one-of-a-kind and immersive experience, appealing to both business and leisure travelers.
The Battery, a spectacular architectural design in the Beaux-Arts classical revival style, was designed around the turn of the twentieth century by renowned Philadelphia architect John Windrim. This historic site, formerly known as the Delaware Power Station, was once the largest utility corporation in Philadelphia, giving electricity to about half of the city. The Battery is currently undergoing a $154 million makeover led by Lubert-Adler Real Estate Funds of Philadelphia. The massive redevelopment includes 135,000 square meters of business space, 173 residences, 100,000 square meters of event space, and, of course, the much-anticipated Riversuites.
With a $7 million investment, the Riversuites project will provide over 40 full-time hospitality positions, boosting the casino’s existing staff of over 1,100 employees. The hotel is scheduled to open by the end of this year. The project is designed by Koo Architecture of Chicago, and The Battery is designed by Strada of Philadelphia.
