The six casinos in Maryland generated $158.1 million in revenue in November, according to the Maryland Lottery and Gaming. This represents a little $400,000 increase from the previous year, but it was less than the $160.5 million in October. Maryland Casinos had a steady growth in September as well.
Increased Contributions to Education and Communities
Casino gaming in November contributed $68.9 million to various state funds, a 4.2% rise from the same period last year. Of this, $49.7 million supported Maryland’s Education Trust Fund, nearly $2 million more than November 2023. Additional funds went to local communities, Maryland’s horse racing industry, and small, minority- and women-owned businesses.
MGM National Harbor led all properties, generating $65.5 million despite a 1.6% year-over-year decline. Live! Casino & Hotel followed with $60.3 million, marking a 3.9% increase. Hollywood Casino Perryville also saw gains, rising 5.4% to $7.2 million.
Other properties experienced mixed results. Horseshoe Casino earned $14.3 million, down 1.7% from last year. Ocean Downs Casino and Rocky Gap Casino reported the steepest declines, dropping 6.9% and 8.8% to $6.6 million and $4.2 million, respectively.
Maryland’s casinos feature a variety of gaming options, including slot machines and table games. Larger facilities like MGM National Harbor, Live! Casino & Hotel, and Horseshoe Casino boast over 1,000 slots and 100 table games each.
While November revenue reflected steady performance overall, month-to-month fluctuations highlight the dynamic nature of Maryland’s gaming industry. With continued support for education and local initiatives, casino contributions remain a vital part of the state’s economy.
