Ohio Casino Control Commission Updates Rules on Promotions and Bonuses

The Ohio Casino Control Commission has introduced a new rule regarding promotions and bonuses to ensure transparency and clarity for consumers.

Clarifying Promotional Practices

The regulator explained the update is “to expressly clarify the way sports gaming proprietors can offer promotions or bonuses in connection with or as a result of a non-gaming, consumer transaction.” The amendment emphasizes that promotions must be unambiguous and clear.

“Terms and conditions that are full, accurate, concise, transparent and do not contain misleading information,” the commission stated. These offers need to include dates and times they are active and expire, and must display rules of play, nature, and value of awards or prizes, as well as what makes someone eligible.

Other necessary disclosures involve wagering and redemption requirements, eligible events or wages, and requirements to cancel. The commission emphasized, “This rule describes the manner and conditions under which sports gaming proprietors may offer promotions or bonuses. This includes ensuring that the promotions and bonuses, like advertisements, are clear and not misleading.”
