Evolution Pays £4.75 Million in UK Settlement

Evolution has agreed to pay £4.75 million to end an 18-month UK Gambling Commission licence review. The case involved Evolution games appearing on six websites linked to two operators without a UK licence.

Good to Know

  • Evolution retains its UK supplier licence.
  • The company ended both operator relationships.
  • New ring-fencing controls now cover European markets.

Evolution Closes UK Licence Review

The regulator opened the review in December 2024 after finding Evolution content accessible through unlicensed gambling websites. A Section 116 review can lead to licence conditions, financial action, suspension or revocation.

Evolution said the two operators had “actively evaded restrictions in place at the time.”

“The commercial relationships with the two operators whose websites offered Evolution content that may have been accessed by British consumers were terminated immediately upon discovery.”

The supplier also said the review found “no broader pattern of unlicensed access to Evolution content in the UK.”

Following the initial discovery, Evolution blocked access from the identified sites and introduced wider geolocation and ring-fencing controls across Europe. Those controls aim to keep Evolution games within regulated markets.

“Evolution has fully cooperated with the Commission consistent with its longstanding approach to regulatory engagement. The company routinely takes technical, legal and commercial action to identify, address and prevent unauthorised access to its content,” Evolution said.
