Peru has blocked another 50 online gaming and sports betting platforms as Mincetur continues enforcement under the national remote gambling framework.
The latest action takes the number of blocked technology platforms to 86, with authorities targeting 157 by the end of 2026. Mincetur said its enforcement work has already cut the unlicensed online gambling offering by more than half.
Good to Know
The General Directorate of Casino Games and Slot Machines, or DGJCMT, coordinated the latest blocking action with the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Authorities have also targeted payment methods and gaming content linked to unlicensed websites, limiting the ability of those operators to continue serving customers.
Peru introduced its remote gambling framework through Law No. 31,557. The law covers both domestic and foreign companies and requires authorization for online gaming and remote sports betting platforms. Authorized platforms also fall under a 12% monthly gambling tax on the applicable tax base.
The regulatory framework gives Mincetur direct oversight of platforms serving players in Peru, including operators based outside the country.
Enforcement has also extended beyond websites.
Mincetur, the National Police of Peru and the Public Prosecutor Office recently seized sports betting equipment from an unlicensed operation in Chilca, in the Junín region.
Authorities have now ordered the closure of 17 sports betting locations and 10 slot machine halls.
Mincetur has also completed 5,195 inspections of casino and slot machine locations, alongside another 4,572 inspections covering technology platforms and betting venues.
Those totals show how enforcement has expanded since Peru formally brought remote betting under national regulation. Government planning documents already recorded more than 3,200 technology platform and remote betting inspections by September 2025.
The DGJCMT also maintains a database of around 2,000 domains identified from lists published by gambling authorities in other countries.
Officials use that database as a reference when looking for platforms that may be serving Peruvian customers without local authorization.
Foreign operators can participate legally in the Peru market, but they must complete the required registration and authorization process. SUNAT records also show that nonresident online gambling companies serving Peru must register for tax purposes under the framework.
The government has said the blocking, inspections and venue closures form part of its wider effort to bring more online gambling activity inside the regulated Peru market.
