Eight Washington casinos that recently appeared in closure notices are now expected to remain open after Eric Persson agreed to reacquire the properties. Around 850 casino workers are expected to keep their jobs through the ownership change.
Good to Know
The agreement covers Great American Casino in Everett, All Star Casino in Silverdale, Casino Caribbean in Yakima, Crazy Moose Casino in Pasco and Coyote Bobs Casino in Kennewick.
Three Lakewood properties are also included: Chip Casino, Macau Casino and Palace Casino.
Persson said:
“From a customer standpoint, you know nothing changes. The building never closes.”
The planned transaction changes the outlook created by WARN notices filed by Maverick Washington LLC. Those filings warned that about 850 positions across gaming, food service, security and management could end if the eight locations closed.
Persson said the notices reflect the end of employment under the existing company before workers join the new operator. Customers, meanwhile, should see no interruption at the casinos.
He expects the acquisition to close in roughly three weeks and said he is working with regulators on the transition.
Maverick Washington LLC filed the WARN notices while operating within a bankruptcy process connected to RunItOneTime LLC.
The letters already left open the possibility that a buyer could prevent the closures. Human Resources Director Christine Wisniewski wrote that a change of owner or operator could keep the affected sites operating or delay any closure.
Persson has drawn a distinction between the company involved in the bankruptcy case and the current Maverick Gaming business.
“Maverick Gaming is not a party to the bankruptcy. We’re a separate company.”
The Chapter 11 case was filed in July 2025 under RunItOneTime LLC in the Southern District of Texas. Court filings listed assets and liabilities between $100 million and $500 million.
Persson said he transferred assets to lenders in 2025 and later bought back the Maverick Gaming name. He has since reacquired several assets, including four Washington card rooms and a manufacturing business. The latest agreement would add the eight casinos named in the recent WARN notices.
Two other Tukwila casinos remain part of a separate process. WARN filings issued in September covered 238 workers at Great American Casino and Riverside Casino in Tukwila, with November 1 listed as the closure date. Persson said another buyer is expected to acquire two additional properties, although he did not identify them.
Persson said the eight properties will remain open while ownership changes and employees transfer to the new company.
Around 850 casino jobs were included in the WARN notices.
The agreement covers casinos in Everett, Lakewood, Silverdale, Yakima, Pasco and Kennewick.
Persson expects the deal to close in about three weeks.
