Macau casino revenue recovered from a weak June in July 2026, although the monthly total remained below the level recorded one year earlier.
Good To Know
Macau casinos generated MOP20.26 billion in gross gaming revenue during July, according to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau. The result compared with MOP18.52 billion in June.
The monthly recovery followed weaker betting activity during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which ran from June 11 to July 19. Analysts said the tournament diverted some customer attention from Macau casinos.
Citigroup estimated daily GGR at MOP679 million during the week from July 13 to July 19, up 9% from the previous week as fewer World Cup matches remained.
MGM Resorts International also reported a recovery before the July 19 final. Management said Macau gaming volumes had returned close to first-quarter levels after the temporary June slowdown.
However, July revenue still fell 8.4% from the same month in 2025. Total Macau GGR for the first seven months reached MOP147.16 billion, 4.4% higher than the prior-year period.
Weather disruption added another constraint. Typhoon Noul affected flights, ferries and regional transport near the end of July, including connections through Hong Kong and Guangdong. Macau raised only a No.3 storm warning, so casinos and most public transport continued operating.
