Major Groups Bring Several Brands

Competition will extend far beyond a few large sportsbooks. Several gaming groups plan to run multiple Alberta online casinos and betting sites under separate names.

PENN Entertainment will offer theScore Bet, theScore Bet Casino and Hollywood Casino. Caesars will enter with Caesars Sportsbook, Caesars Palace and Horseshoe, while DraftKings will add Golden Nugget to its sportsbook and casino operation.

Cadtree plans to launch Betway for sports betting plus JackpotCity, Royal Vegas, Ruby Fortune and Spin Casino. Skill on Net will bring Mega Casino, PlayOJO, Slots Magic and Spin Genie.

Apollo Entertainment accounts for another seven casino brands, including Captain Cooks Casino, Golden Tiger Casino, Luxury Casino and Yukon Gold.

PointsBet became the first platform approved for pre-registration. BetMGM, Caesars and theScore Bet have also allowed Alberta users to create accounts before legal wagering begins.

The sportsbook field also includes BET99, Tooniebet, BallyBet, Monopoly Sportsbook, DAZNBET, BetVictor, BetRivers, Sports Interaction, TonyBet and Betnova.

Casino players will see brands such as BallyBet Casino, Monopoly Casino, betty, Casinotime, Delta Casino, Pure Casino, River Cree, Power Play, 888 and Stardust Casino.

Many companies already operate in Ontario, giving them experience with Canadian payments, compliance rules and player protection systems. Alberta will now test whether Play Alberta can retain users when private operators add larger product ranges and established loyalty programs.
