Chen Wins Ladies Championship After Wild Heads Up Battle

Skye Chen turned her second WSOP try into a bracelet win. The software engineer from Northern California beat 1,475 entries in Event No. 70 $1,000 Ladies Championship, earning $194,630 and a special edition bracelet with pink jewels.

“It’s always been a dream of mine as a poker player to get a bracelet,” Chen told WSOP’s Natalie Bode. “But I absolutely did not expect this on the second try ever.”

Aubrey Williams, a WSOP Circuit ring winner from Pennsylvania, finished second for $129,692, the best cash of her career. The heads up match swung hard both ways. Williams entered with nearly a 2 to 1 chip lead, lost control after Chen made a huge ace high river call, then doubled back several times before the final race.

The biggest hand came when Williams shoved the river with queen high on a jack high board and Chen called for her tournament life with ace ten high. Chen later survived pocket eights against ace ten, then closed it out when pocket fours held against ace five suited. Earlier, Chen eliminated Lisa Teebagy in third after a full house beat a Broadway straight. Caitlin Comeskey also made a career best run, finishing fourth for $67,735.

Atchison Turns Sixth WSOP Cash Into Stud Bracelet

Taylor Atchison took down Event No. 69 $1,500 Stud Eight Or Better, beating 647 entries for $159,276 and his first WSOP bracelet.

The Minneapolis player had already shown mixed game progress earlier in June with a 15th place finish in the $10,000 Big O Championship for $39,786. Less than two weeks later, he turned a sixth WSOP cash into a bracelet.

“Nowadays, I play everything except no-limit hold’em,” Atchison told reporters. “Like everybody, I grew up playing hold’em, but now I play a lot of Big O. Over the past couple of years, I have tried to expand to play all of the mixed games.”

The event drew 647 entries, up from 615 in 2025, and created an $858,892 prize pool. The top 99 players cashed. Deep runs came from Jason Daly, Ben Yu, Brian Rast, Ryan Hoenig, Kane Kalas, David Bach and Adam Owen.

The final hand ended with Daniil Fedunov making a flush, only for Atchison to show a full house. No qualifying low appeared, so Atchison scooped the pot and the title. Fedunov earned $106,162 as runner up.

Smith Converts Mixed Game Form Into First Bracelet

Dylan Smith already had major live results before Event No. 71 $2,500 Mixed Big Bet. He won the 2024 WPT Rock’n’Roll Poker Open main event for $662,200 and also ran deep in high level mixed events at the WSOP.

Now he has a bracelet. Smith topped a 388 entry field for $182,591, pushing his live tournament earnings close to $5.9 million.

Mixed Big Bet uses a seven game rotation: no limit hold’em, no limit deuce to seven single draw, pot limit Omaha eight or better, pot limit five card double draw high, pot limit Omaha, Big O and pot limit deuce to seven triple draw.

Smith had to get through a strong late field that included Nick Marchington, Brad Owen, Steve Billirakis, Renan Bruschi and Naoya Kihara. Kihara, who had already won two bracelets during the summer, finished third for $78,984.

Heads up play started with Smith holding about a 4 to 1 lead over Matthew Vengrin. Smith closed the event in pot limit triple draw deuce to seven lowball, making 8 7 6 4 3 against Vengrin with 10 8 7 5 2. Vengrin received $118,647.
