Atlanta Tourist Wins 10 Million Jackpot At Westgate Las Vegas

A Las Vegas visitor from Atlanta chose a lump sum payout after winning $10.3 million on a $5 spin at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.

Good to know

  • The win came on IGT Megabucks Wolf Run at Westgate Las Vegas.
  • The jackpot hit after around three minutes of play.
  • Vital Vegas reported the player should keep about $6 million after taxes.

Jackpot Total And Take Home Are Different

The screen showed $10.3 million, but the final payment will land far lower. The player took the lump sum option instead of an annual annuity, according to Vital Vegas.

After taxes, the winner will reportedly receive about $6 million.

“Nobody really does the annuity option,” Vital Vegas wrote on X/Twitter. “Opinions about a tip vary widely. My suggestion is always ‘more than zero,’ which is the average for million-plus wins.”

That tax gap is normal with large progressive jackpots. The advertised number often assumes long term payments, while the lump sum gives the winner faster access to cash at a reduced amount.

Westgate Gets A New Big Win Story

The jackpot adds another headline moment to a property already tied to Las Vegas history. Westgate sits behind the Las Vegas Convention Center near the north end of the Strip, and it once hosted Elvis Presley during one of the most famous residencies in casino entertainment.

Presley performed 636 consecutive sold out shows at the property from 1969 to 1976.

The casino also houses the SuperBook, one of the best known sportsbook venues in Las Vegas. In April, Westgate announced that Caesars would take over management of the SuperBook.

Three Minutes On Megabucks

The Atlanta tourist was playing IGT Megabucks Wolf Run on Wednesday when the jackpot landed. KSNV reported that the player had been at the machine for only about three minutes.

The win came from a $5 wager.

Westgate President and GM Cami Christensen said:

“Las Vegas is built on unforgettable moments, and it doesn’t get much more memorable than turning a $5 bet into more than $10 million.

“We’re thrilled for our guest from Atlanta and love seeing these legendary stories happen at Westgate.”

Other guests and casino staff reportedly joined the celebration at the off Strip property after the jackpot hit.
