Nevada casinos brought in about $1.24 billion in gaming revenue in February, up 1.5% from a year earlier. The result pushed the state to its 60th straight month above $1 billion, showing how durable casino win has remained even as tourism softened.
Good to Know
The biggest share again came from the Las Vegas Strip. Strip casinos posted $696.3 million in gaming revenue, up 0.86% year on year. Baccarat played a major role. Casinos won nearly $120 million from baccarat, while players lost about $32 million more than they did a year earlier. Hold reached 14.6%.
Off-Strip play also helped. Properties serving local customers across Clark County turned in a solid month, with the balance of Clark County reaching about $148 million, up 2.87%. That helped offset weaker results in other parts of the state.
Regional performance was mixed. Downtown Las Vegas fell 4.18% to $69.8 million, and Laughlin dropped 8.83% to $38.5 million. Reno moved the other way, rising 7.73% to $60.6 million, while Mesquite increased 5.16% to $17.4 million.
Nevada Gaming Control Board officials said casino win held up better than tourism trends. February last year began a period of softer visitor numbers in Las Vegas, yet gaming revenue has stayed relatively firm.
Even with the monthly gain, the Las Vegas Strip is still slightly behind its fiscal-year pace. Statewide, Nevada is ahead by about $83 million, or 0.79%, for the fiscal year running from July 1 to June 30. The Strip, however, is behind by about $62 million, or 0.88%.
Still, the bigger picture remains strong. Nevada is far above pre-pandemic gaming levels, and February became the fifth straight year with every month above the $1 billion line.
