Boyd Gaming to Open Cadence Crossing Casino in Henderson on March 25

Boyd Gaming Corp will open Cadence Crossing, a new neighborhood casino along Boulder Highway in Henderson, on March 25. The property will welcome guests at noon after a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m. with Henderson city officials and company executives.

Cadence Crossing replaces the Joker’s Wild casino that previously operated at the same location. Project also represents the first ground up casino development completed by Boyd Gaming in more than two decades.

Residential Growth Driving New Casino Investment

Development aligns closely with the growth of the nearby Cadence master planned community. Boyd has also indicated plans to eventually add a hotel to the property, though the number of rooms and construction timeline remain unclear.

Boyd President and CEO Keith Smith highlighted residential demand during an earnings call earlier this year.

“The adjacent community of Cadence has more than 1,200 new homes sold in 2025 alone,” Smith said. “This is the third-best sales performance of any master-planned community in the country. Strong residential growth is continuing throughout the neighborhood. We believe Cadence Crossing Casino will be well-positioned to deliver a strong return on our investment.”

Cadence Crossing also sits near ongoing development along Boulder Highway. Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero previously noted that the project complements a $170 million improvement project covering roughly 7.5 miles of the highway corridor.

The casino will join other Boyd Gaming properties in the area, including Sam’s Town located about seven miles away. Boyd recently demolished the Eastside Cannery hotel casino property, which remained closed since the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Company plans to sell that site for residential development.
