Bally’s Corporation To Acquire Sam’s Town Shreveport From Boyd Gaming

Bally’s Corporation has reached an agreement to acquire Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino in Shreveport from Boyd Gaming. Transaction places two neighboring casino properties along the Red River under one operator once regulatory approvals arrive.

Agreement, announced February 26, is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026. Both companies confirmed financial terms remain undisclosed.

Acquisition strengthens Bally’s presence in Louisiana and adds another step in a broader strategy focused on growth across regional casino markets in the United States.

Single ownership across both casinos could influence customer traffic patterns and gaming activity across northern Louisiana. Combined operations would also form one of the largest gaming complexes in the Shreveport area.

Sam’s Town Shreveport includes a 29,000 square foot casino floor featuring about 750 slot machines and 14 table games. Property also contains a 514 room hotel, several dining venues, a live entertainment space, and meeting facilities used for conventions and events.

Leadership at Bally’s indicated plans for continued investment once the transaction closes. Soo Kim, executive chairman of Bally’s , described future ambitions for the market. He said:

“We know this market well and understand what makes it special. We see meaningful opportunities to reinvest in the market and further strengthen Shreveport’s position as a premier destination for gaming and entertainment.”

Sale also aligns with portfolio adjustments underway at Boyd Gaming. Sam’s Town Shreveport entered Boyd portfolio in 2004. Recent corporate activity shows focus shifting toward other assets and strategic priorities.

Keith Smith, president and chief executive officer of Boyd Gaming, explained the decision. He said:

“The sale of our Sam’s Town Shreveport property is consistent with our continued focus on refining our operating model and our nationwide property portfolio.”

Recent developments highlight a period of restructuring and investment across Boyd operations. In 2025 the company purchased Resorts Digital, the online gaming arm connected to Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. Boyd also sold a five percent stake in Flutter Entertainment, parent company of FanDuel, for $1.75 billion.

Construction activity also continues in Nevada where Boyd plans to open Cadence Crossing in Henderson. Project represents the first newly built casino property for Boyd in more than two decades.

Bally’s has also been active with new development plans and acquisitions across the United States. Only days before the Sam’s Town agreement, Bally’s completed a $156.6 million purchase of parkland in the Bronx. Site forms part of a proposed $4 billion casino resort project connected to the New York downstate gaming license process.

Across its portfolio Bally’s operates 19 casino properties in 11 states within the United States and one location in the United Kingdom. Combined operations include around 17,700 slot machines, roughly 630 table games, and nearly 3,950 hotel rooms.

Development pipeline also includes an integrated resort project in Chicago and future plans tied to the former Tropicana Las Vegas site.
