Wynn Resorts said it is monitoring rising tensions across the Middle East and has safety measures in place to protect employees working in the United Arab Emirates. The company confirmed contingency plans tied to the development of the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort in Ras Al Khaimah.
Good to Know
Wynn Resorts confirmed that leadership continues to watch the evolving security situation in the region while maintaining internal safety procedures for employees in the United Arab Emirates. The company shared the update with GGRAsia after reports of increased geopolitical tension across the Middle East.
Recent developments have raised concerns in several Gulf states. Local media outlet Khaleej Times reported that debris from a drone intercepted by air defence systems fell in a residential area of Ras Al Khaimah, the emirate where the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort is under construction.
Regional tensions increased following joint airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel against targets in Iran during the weekend. After the strikes, Iranian forces launched drones and missiles toward several locations across the Middle East.
Some of those attacks reportedly targeted Dubai, located less than 90 minutes from Ras Al Khaimah, along with neighboring Gulf states including Bahrain and Kuwait.
The United States State Department also issued guidance advising American citizens in 14 Middle Eastern countries to leave the region through commercial transportation due to what it described as escalating safety risks.
The Wynn Al Marjan Island resort remains one of the largest hospitality developments underway in the United Arab Emirates. Wynn Resorts holds a 40 percent ownership stake in the project, which is being built in partnership with local investors.
In early December, Wynn Resorts said it had already spent or fully committed $3.4 billion toward the development, representing about 67 percent of the total $5.1 billion project cost.
Construction continues to progress on the property. The 70 floor hotel tower reached its topping out milestone in December, marking a major stage in the building process.
Once completed, the resort will include 1,550 guest accommodations, ranging from standard hotel rooms and suites to luxury villas with direct beachfront access. The property will also feature 22 restaurants and lounges, along with retail areas and meeting spaces designed to support large events and conferences.
The integrated resort is scheduled to open in spring 2027, positioning Wynn Resorts within the rapidly developing hospitality and tourism sector of the United Arab Emirates.
