  • Wildhorse Resort expansion carries a $100 million investment.
  • Development includes a new 10 story hotel tower with 214 rooms.
  • The project remains on schedule for completion in 2027.

The expansion centers on a 10 story hotel tower that will add 214 guest rooms, including standard rooms as well as luxury and executive suites. When the project finishes, the Oregon resort will exceed 400 total hotel keys, nearly doubling the property current lodging capacity.

Construction crews began work on the development in June 2025, following demolition of the Courtyard Hotel, a 28 year old building that opened in 1996. Tribal leaders previously noted that the Courtyard property was recognized as the first hotel built by a tribal casino. The structure received a ceremonial farewell on August 19, 2024, and demolition started the next day.

After roughly eight months of construction, crews are preparing for the next milestone. A topping off ceremony scheduled for March 25 will mark the placement of the highest structural beam on the hotel tower.

Project superintendent Ian Heyn of Lydig, the contractor managing construction, described the upcoming stage during a local interview. He said:

“We do have a topping off ceremony scheduled for the 25th of March, and we plan to have the structure all in place, and we’ll set our ceremonial beam at that time and move forward.”

Convention Center And Resort Dining Planned

The expansion also introduces a 15,000 square foot convention center designed to host a wide range of events. The venue will support gatherings of up to 1,500 guests, allowing the property to accommodate conferences, concerts, and large celebrations.

A large banquet kitchen will support the convention center along with a new resort restaurant expected to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The kitchen facilities will allow the resort to manage catering operations for corporate meetings, weddings, and large social events.

Wildhorse Resort & Casino operates under ownership of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, and tribal officials say gaming revenue remains an important source of funding for government programs. A tribal representative said:

“It’ll provide another source. And the only source of discretionary income that the tribe can use to fund its programs.

“And then, gaming is all about funding for different activities of the tribe, so we can fund tribal government, general welfare.”

Leadership at the property also highlighted strong support from communities across the region during the development process.

“We’re really excited about what we’ve been able to do with the property here in eastern Oregon and Pendleton, Oregon.

“You know, it’s not a typical site where you would see a big casino like this, being developed or constructed. But, we’ve gotten great support from the whole region, including Tri-Cities, Walla Walla.”

The $100 million expansion ranks among the largest private development projects in the Pendleton area in recent decades. Once complete, the resort will combine expanded lodging, convention facilities, and food and beverage operations to serve gaming guests as well as corporate and group events across the Pacific Northwest.
