Michigan Targets 12 Offshore Gambling Sites With New Orders

Michigan regulators spent the past week renewing their push to protect residents from unlicensed gambling sites. A new round of enforcement notices has gone out, and the message from the state is direct and unmistakable.

MGCB Issues New Warning To Offshore Gambling Sites

The Michigan Gaming Control Board announced that it sent 12 cease and desist letters to offshore gambling operators offering online casino games or sports betting without state authorization. Investigators confirmed that platforms such as 31 Bets Casino, Betnuvo, BetPhoenix, Booty.bet, Jackpotter, Kings Chance Casino, Mybitcoin Casino, Starbets, The Virtual Casino, This Is Vegas, Vegas Strip Casino and xWin90 were providing unlicensed gaming options to Michigan residents.

Regulators highlighted the dangers associated with using unregulated platforms. Offshore sites operate outside Michigan law, meaning players have no guaranteed protections, no fair-game oversight and no formal recourse if winnings are withheld or disputes arise. The MGCB encouraged residents to rely only on approved operators listed on its official site.

Michigan law requires any company offering online casino gaming or sports wagering to obtain a license under the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, Lawful Sports Betting Act and related statutes. Those that ignore the state notice risk further action, which can include tougher penalties and follow-up investigations.

MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams stressed the agency stance on illegal gambling, saying:

“Illegal online gambling sites operate without oversight, putting players at risk and undermining Michigan’s secure, regulated marketplace. We will continue to take relentless, decisive action to prevent unlicensed operators from targeting Michigan residents and ensure that all gaming is conducted lawfully and responsibly.”
