Michigan posted its strongest online gambling month to date, with iGaming and sports betting both climbing sharply in October. Fresh data from the Michigan Gaming Control Board showed major growth across the state after a weaker September.
Good to Know
Michigan sportsbooks generated $73.8 million in gross receipts during October, a jump of 123.6 percent year over year. The rebound followed a disappointing September, when operators earned far less despite handling more wagers than the year before.
Bettors placed $605.9 million in sports wagers during October, 8.1 percent higher than the same month in 2024 and 15.6 percent above September. That activity gave operators a 12.2 percent hold on gross receipts.
Sportsbooks paid $3.4 million in taxes, contributing to the $58 million collected from the entire online gambling sector. Retail casinos added another $15 million. For the year so far, Michigan online operators have produced a $4.3 billion handle, $500 million in gross receipts, and $18.4 million in state taxes.
FanDuel led Michigan again with $230.5 million in wagers and $17.5 million in gross receipts. Both marks showed strong progress, with handle up 9.1 percent and receipts up 103.6 percent year over year.
DraftKings stayed in second place at $180.5 million in wagers, up 12.9 percent year over year. It produced $16.8 million in adjusted gross receipts after finishing last October in negative territory.
BetMGM placed third with $70.5 million in wagers and $7.3 million in AGR. While handle was down 16.4 percent year over year, the operator generated nearly eleven times the AGR it posted one year ago.
Fanatics recorded $50.3 million in wagers, a 70.6 percent increase, and earned $2.5 million in AGR after posting a loss last October.
PENN Entertainment, which recently announced an early end to its ESPN Bet partnership, accepted $28.6 million in wagers, a 9.2 percent decline. AGR rose sharply, up 110.3 percent.
Caesars closed the month with $25.4 million in wagers and $1.7 million in AGR, marking an 8 percent decline in handle but a 136.1 percent jump in receipts.
Online casino operators delivered the main headline in October. Gross iGaming receipts reached $278.5 million, the highest monthly total in state history. Online casino results pushed overall online gambling activity to $352.3 million when combined with sports betting.
Adjusted iGaming receipts came in at $261.7 million, up 31.8 percent year over year. The results strengthen Michigan’s position as one of the top-performing online casino markets in the country.
