The American Gaming Association selected Louis “Lou” M. Jacobs, Chief Executive Officer of Delaware North, as its next chairman. He will take over in January 2026, stepping into the role after Michael Rumbolz completes his two-year term.
Good to Know
Jacobs expressed appreciation for the appointment and highlighted the importance of the gaming industry to local economie:
“It is an honor to lead the AGA at such a dynamic time. I look forward to building on AGA success and working with CEO Bill Miller and the Board to ensure legal gaming remains a strong economic engine for communities across the country.”
Jacobs oversees Delaware North operating subsidiaries, with responsibilities across strategic planning, governance, and financial oversight. The company has a wide gaming footprint through regional casinos, hospitality properties, and online sports betting and iGaming products across several states.
AGA President and CEO Bill Miller welcomed the board’s choice, saying:
“Lou tremendous experience across the gaming and hospitality ecosystem makes him an exceptional choice to be AGA next chairman. His perspective as a long-time industry leader and active board member of the AGA will be instrumental as we continue to champion policies that strengthen and sustain our industry.”
Rumbolz guided the association through major growth across commercial, tribal, sports betting, and iGaming sectors. Under his leadership, the AGA strengthened responsible gaming programs and targeted illegal gambling activity at the state and federal level. Miller added:
“Mike leadership has been invaluable to both me and the AGA. His insight and steady hand have helped guide legal gaming through a period of continued growth and transformation.”
Beyond his role at Delaware North, Jacobs serves on the board of FeedMore WNY and currently chairs its capital campaign. He holds both a Bachelor of Arts and an MBA from Harvard University.
The AGA represents the national casino sector, including commercial and tribal operators, online sports betting companies, iGaming platforms, and gaming suppliers.
The leadership change comes as DraftKings and FanDuel announced they will leave the AGA. Both companies are preparing to launch CFTC-regulated prediction market platforms, a direction that does not align with AGA position on sports event contracts. Their departure highlights a widening policy divide inside the broader gaming landscape.
