Suntrust Westside City Resort Nears Completion with 2026 Opening Target

The skyline of Manila’s Entertainment City is preparing to welcome a new landmark. Global design firm Arcadis confirmed that Suntrust Resort Holdings’ massive Westside City project is now 75% complete and is expected to open in the third quarter of 2026.

Good to Know

  • The resort carries an estimated cost of PHP 73 billion (US$1.25 billion).
  • Construction began in 2019 and was delayed by the global pandemic.
  • The property will include 2,500 hotel rooms, a casino with 2,000 gaming positions, and a 3,000-seat performance hall.

Arcadis, which serves as the project’s design and engineering consultant, said the resort is “on the brink of completion.” Project Director Joseph Atabug praised the team’s progress despite “unprecedented challenges,” noting that the development is set to deliver “results beyond expectations.”

From Delays to Progress

Initially scheduled to open in 2022, the Westside City development faced multiple setbacks tied to the Covid-19 pandemic and global supply chain disruptions. The timeline was later moved to late 2025 before the most recent adjustment to 2026.

Arcadis reaffirmed that construction is now proceeding on schedule, with finishing phases underway across hotel, casino, and entertainment areas. Once complete, the project is expected to stand as one of the largest integrated resorts in the Philippines.

Inside Westside City

Located within the Entertainment City district of Parañaque, Westside City spans 31 hectares (310,000 square meters)—placing it among the country’s largest hospitality and gaming complexes. The area already hosts major names such as Solaire, Okada Manila, and City of Dreams, all located just minutes from Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The new destination will feature three hotel towers, a luxury spa and wellness center, expansive convention and meeting spaces, and a performance venue designed for international shows. The casino will cater to both VIP and mass-market guests with more than 2,000 slot machines and gaming tables.

Partnership and Vision

Westside City is a joint venture between Suntrust Resort Holdings—a unit of Hong Kong’s LET Group Holdings—and Travellers International Hotel Group, the operator behind Newport World Resorts in Metro Manila.

In September, Travellers took over project development, referring to the resort as the “Broadway of Asia” for its planned mix of entertainment, gaming, and cultural events.

“Westside City is more than a destination — it’s a commitment to Filipino talent and world-class entertainment,” said Kevin Tan, Chairman of Travellers. “Our vision is to create a global stage that celebrates local excellence.”

Once operational, the resort is expected to further boost tourism, employment, and the Philippines’ position as a regional gaming and entertainment hub.
