Ontario’s regulated iGaming scene is about to welcome a new player. Absolutebet, founded in 2024 and headquartered in the province, has officially secured registration from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), a requirement for any operator looking to run legally in the market.
Good to know
For Absolutebet, getting AGCO approval represents more than just ticking a regulatory box. It cements the brand’s official arrival in the very market where it has “a special focus.”
Founder Chen Truman called the milestone the true beginning of the company’s journey:
“Securing AGCO registration is more than a milestone – it’s the start of Absolutebet’s journey in one of the most exciting regulated markets in the world. We are building a brand that will grow with the Ontario community and set the stage for future expansion.”
With AGCO registration in place, Absolutebet now moves under the supervision of iGaming Ontario, the agency led by new President and CEO Joseph Hillier. The operator is completing the final steps of onboarding with iGO ahead of its platform launch.
As a mobile-first brand, Absolutebet is preparing to offer Ontario players a seamless digital experience while aligning with provincial compliance standards.
AGCO recently streamlined its licensing process, with changes that came into effect in July 2025. Operators are no longer required to seek registrar approval for responsible gaming programs, though RG training for staff remains a condition for licensing.
That shift makes Absolutebet’s entry slightly smoother, though it still required extensive preparation.
Legal and Regulatory Compliance Advisor Krisztina Kalla reflected on the process:
“Securing AGCO registration has taken months of preparation and close collaboration with regulators and partners. I am very happy to see the result of that work, and even more excited as we move into the launch phase and open up the Absolutebet community to Ontario players in a fun and responsible way.”
