Leadership changes are underway at one of North America’s key lottery operators. Wayne Pickup, who currently leads Allwyn North America, has decided to step down after more than seven years with the company. His departure is scheduled for November 14, 2025.
Good to know
Pickup has been part of the Allwyn team for quite a while. Before joining the lottery group, he worked at International Game Technology (IGT) and also held a leadership role at Lotto New Zealand. Over the past eight years, he has helped shape Allwyn’s presence in the U.S., playing a key part in the Illinois Lottery and other state partnerships.
In a statement reflecting on his time with the company, Pickup said:
“After eight transformative years, I’m grateful for the trust this organization has placed in me and proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”
He added:
“I’m confident in the strong foundation we’ve built and excited to see the continued success that lies ahead for this exceptional team.”
Until he steps away in November, Pickup will continue working with the leadership team to keep operations running smoothly. His focus will be on performance, strategy, and making sure customers continue to get the service they expect.
Robert Chvatal, CEO of Allwyn Group, praised Pickup for his contributions. “The entire Allwyn team thanks Wayne for his leadership and vision, which have helped to put Allwyn North America on the map. While we’re sorry to see Wayne go, we look forward to working with him over the coming months on a smooth transition to new leadership,” he said.
The company has already started looking for someone to take over the role. Whoever is chosen will be expected to continue building on the work Pickup started, especially around the Illinois Lottery and the company’s growing footprint in North America.
Allwyn’s strategy has included expanding through both partnerships and digital improvements. While Pickup’s exit creates a change at the top, the company appears to be keeping a steady hand on its long-term goals.
