WSOP 2025 Sets New Entry And Prize Records In Las Vegas

After two months packed with nonstop poker action, the 2025 World Series of Poker wrapped up its summer run in Las Vegas on July 16. Hosted at Paris Las Vegas and Horseshoe Las Vegas, the 56th edition of the WSOP went well beyond expectations, breaking records in nearly every category and drawing a crowd that included both pros and first-timers.

Good to know

  • The series paid out over $481 million in total prize money.
  • 246,960 total entries made it the largest WSOP ever.
  • 43 players walked away with prizes worth $1 million or more.

WSOP CEO Ty Stewart reflected on the series with a sense of pride and optimism. He said:

“The poker renaissance was on full display at the 2025 WSOP. If you missed the amazing action, the good news is that you can inevitably expect bigger and better next year. A sincere thank you to every player and staffer who came to Las Vegas and made this a summer to remember.”

The numbers this year were hard to ignore. The 2025 WSOP saw 246,960 total entries—more than any WSOP before it. Prize money also hit a record high, with $481,761,879 awarded throughout the series. A total of 37,311 players cashed, another all-time record. And for those chasing the seven-figure dream, 43 players took home at least $1 million.

Some events stood out more than others. The $1,500 buy-in Millionaire Maker drew 11,996 entries, the largest field ever for that price point in a live tournament. Event #89, the $3,000 Mid-Stakes Championship, pulled in 3,797 entries, setting a new benchmark for that buy-in level. The Mystery Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha event attracted 5,284 players, the biggest live PLO field ever recorded.

The series also saw 57 different tournaments push past $2 million in prize money, and 9 of them exceeded the $10 million mark. Those numbers add even more weight to the idea that poker is not only alive—it is growing again.

Beyond the tables, the WSOP also rolled out a tech upgrade that made a big difference. The new WSOP+ app helped eliminate long registration lines, improving the overall experience for players and staff alike.

Celebrity appearances, returning legends, and new faces gave the summer series its usual mix of drama and excitement. But what stood out this year was the scale. From buy-ins to prize pools to the sheer volume of players, the 2025 WSOP felt bigger in every way.

The flagship event of the series, the Main Event, was ultimately won by no other than a big name in the game, Michael Mizrachi, who bagged a payday of $10,000,000 on the way.
