Superb.bet Banned in Sweden for Targeting Local Users

Sweden’s gambling watchdog, Spelinspektionen, has banned WinBet NV from offering its betting services to players in the country. The move follows an investigation into the operator’s Superb.bet platform, which was found to be targeting Swedish users without a local license.

Good to know

  • Superb.bet was accessible in Swedish and allowed signups from Sweden.
  • WinBet previously faced enforcement action in the Netherlands.
  • Swedish ban took effect immediately after lack of response from operator.

Swedish regulators took a closer look at WinBet after noticing the Superb.bet site automatically loaded in Swedish when accessed from local IP addresses. That, combined with payment options specific to Swedish users and no barriers to registration, made it clear that the operator was serving Swedish players despite lacking the required license.

Spelinspektionen classifies these factors as clear attempts to appeal to Swedish consumers. The regulator reached out to WinBet for a response, but the company did not engage. With no rebuttal, the regulator issued an immediate ban.

Not the First Time for WinBet

WinBet has already drawn attention from regulators elsewhere in Europe. Back in October, the Dutch authority Kansspelautoriteit found WinBet was running unlicensed gambling across several websites including Galaxyspins.com, Superb1.bet, Doctorspins.com, and Winnercasino1.bet.

The Dutch regulator ordered the operator to pull out of the market or face weekly fines of €280,000, up to a cap of €840,000. Despite these actions, WinBet continued to operate in regions where it had no legal clearance.

Sweden Tightens the Screws on Illegal Operators

The ban underscores Sweden’s strict approach toward unlicensed gambling. Operators offering betting services without a local permit and those bypassing regional rules—especially through language targeting and localized payment options—risk quick enforcement.

Spelinspektionen has made clear that it will continue to monitor online platforms for violations and block any sites it believes to be operating outside the law.
