Mizrachi Beats Stacked Field for Historic WSOP Win

Michael Mizrachi added another massive win to his career this week at the 2025 World Series of Poker, locking up his fourth title in Event #66: $50,000 Poker Players Championship. No one else has done that. After victories in 2010, 2012, and 2018, he now stands alone with the most wins in the event’s history.

Good to know

  • Mizrachi earned $1,227,928 and his seventh career bracelet in Event #66: $50,000 Poker Players Championship.
  • The event drew 107 entries and created a $5.1 million prize pool.
  • Esther Taylor made history with the deepest run by a woman in PPC history.

The Poker Players Championship is widely considered one of the hardest events in the WSOP lineup. It tests players across multiple formats—limit, draw, stud, Omaha, hold’em—and has crowned many of the most respected players in the game. Mizrachi already had three wins here, but with this fourth victory, he pulled ahead of Brian Rast, who had matched him at three after winning in 2023.

“I’ve been getting a lot of cards, got lucky a few times, but I’ve been playing great… my best poker I’ve ever played, probably, in any $50k,” Mizrachi said after his win.

Packed field of pros and deep runs from legends

The 2025 edition saw 107 entries, the second-largest turnout in the last 10 years. The prize pool reached $5,162,750, with the top 17 players making at least $100,000. Names like Matthew Ashton, Mike Matusow, Chris Vitch, Justin Liberto, and Ali Eslami all cashed, while Christian Roberts, Erick Lindgren, and Marco Johnson fell just short of the final table.

Ben Lamb was the first out at the final table, and his elimination kicked off a dominant run by Mizrachi, who steamrolled through much of day 5. Meanwhile, Esther Taylor made waves of her own, surpassing Melissa Burr’s 2014 run to become the highest-placing woman in PPC history.

Final table filled with big moments and high-level decisions

The last few days saw plenty of drama and huge confrontations. Joao Vieira, who recently won a $100K high roller, bowed out in fifth. Andrew Yeh followed in fourth after losing a key pot in PLO against Mizrachi. Taylor kept her momentum going and eventually finished third, earning a career-best $595,136. She also used the moment to encourage more women to jump into mixed games.

“I’m proud to represent women in poker,” she said. “My whole goal in playing this event… I’m really hoping that more women in poker will transition into mixed games.”

Heads-up for history

When it came down to heads-up play, Mizrachi held nearly all the chips—close to 30 million out of 32.1 million. Bryn Kenney, the all-time tournament earnings leader, was left with just over 2 million. Kenney managed to hang on through a few rounds, but eventually ran out of chips in a triple draw hand. He finished second and added $887,542 to his total, which now sits at more than $80.8 million.
