PAGCOR has rolled out a new online platform aimed at helping Filipinos quickly verify whether an online gaming site is legally licensed. The move is part of the regulator’s effort to strengthen player protection and reduce the risks associated with unlicensed gambling operators.
Good to know
According to PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco, the goal of the site is to give users a clear way to check legitimacy before signing up or depositing money. “This new website will help our players easily identify and verify whether the online gaming sites are duly licensed before playing or making any payments,” he said.
Tengco added that scammers and illegal gambling websites put the public at risk. He stressed that players should be able to make safe and informed choices online. “By providing the public with a quick and accessible way to check a site’s legitimacy, we are empowering them to make informed decisions and avoid falling victim to fraudsters and scammers.”
He also addressed the broader consequences of illegal gambling. “Illegal online gaming sites not only endanger players but also erode public trust and deprive the government of vital revenues,” Tengco said.
The site is part of PAGCOR’s wider strategy to tighten its control over online gambling activity and reduce the influence of unauthorized platforms. The agency said the “PAGCOR Guarantee” serves as a signal that a platform complies with official licensing requirements.
The launch follows increased public concern about online scams and fraud linked to illegal betting sites, which often mimic licensed operators. PAGCOR’s new digital tool is designed to help the public distinguish between licensed and illegal platforms with just a few clicks.
