Brightstar Launches as New Identity for IGT Lottery Unit

IGT has started a new chapter in its lottery business by rolling out a fresh brand identity. Its global lottery operations will now run under the name Brightstar Lottery. The move reflects a broader restructuring, with IGT’s gaming division merging with Everi under Apollo’s ownership, while Brightstar positions itself as a standalone lottery-focused company.

Good to know

  • Brightstar will officially begin operating independently after the sale of IGT’s Gaming and Digital business on July 1, 2025.
  • The company will continue working with nearly 90 lotteries globally, including 26 U.S. jurisdictions.
  • It plans to keep developing both retail and digital lottery solutions, with a focus on sustainability and innovation.

The decision to separate the lottery and gaming segments follows a model used by Scientific Games, which rebranded its gaming side as Light & Wonder while keeping the lottery business unchanged. Brightstar is following a similar structure, but with a renewed brand and focus.

Brightstar’s CEO, Vince Sadusky, believes the name change highlights the company’s plan to adapt to the digital age. “We have a nearly 50-year history of reliability, innovation, and leadership in lottery, a bedrock from which we are launching Brightstar with a future-forward mindset of helping lottery customers around the world succeed in an environment of digital adoption, shifting player expectations, and an increasing variety of gaming choices.”

Marco Sala, Executive Chair of the Board, added, “Brightstar will be well-positioned to focus on driving innovation and growing the potential of the lottery business responsibly, for the entertainment of players, the success of our customers, and the support of the good causes they fund in their communities.”

Services and technology to continue evolving

Brightstar has confirmed it will keep offering a wide range of services—everything from lottery operations and systems to game development and instant ticket solutions. It also aims to strengthen its technology base and deliver insights and tools that help partners thrive across both retail and digital formats.

The company remains a key supplier to some of the world’s biggest lottery operators. With nearly 90 partnerships globally and support for 26 state-level lottery jurisdictions in the U.S., Brightstar intends to maintain its leadership while staying focused on responsible growth.
