Ian Johns has added a fourth bracelet to his World Series of Poker collection, locking up the win in Event #41: $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship at the 2025 WSOP. Already a two-time winner in this specific event, Johns proved once again that limit hold’em is his specialty.
Good to know
At 40 years old, Johns is no stranger to success in limit poker. His latest win builds on previous victories in 2016 and 2006, once again showing his comfort in fixed-limit formats. The Seattle native outlasted a tough field that featured some of the biggest names in poker.
Daniel Negreanu made the final table but exited in 8th place, while high-stakes regular Viktor “Isildur1” Blom reached heads-up play before falling short. Anthony Zinno, with five bracelets already, finished third after a long battle with both Johns and Blom.
The final table included no shortage of star power. Players like Pedro Neves, Ryan Bambrick, and Max Hoffman all made deep runs. Action moved quickly once Scott Bohlman exited in ninth, followed soon after by Negreanu and David Lieberman. As the field narrowed, Johns gradually built momentum.
Zinno’s run ended in third after he could not get past Johns’ ace-high on a paired board. That set up the heads-up match between Johns and Blom, with Johns holding the chip advantage from the start.
Blom made a run at the title, applying pressure early, but Johns weathered the storm. In the final hand, Blom pushed with a flush draw that never completed, and Johns held top pair to close it out.
Viktor Blom picked up $188,295 for his runner-up finish. Known more for his online cash game reputation, Blom has shown strong consistency this series. This was already his third final table at the 2025 WSOP and brings his career live earnings to more than $8.4 million.
For Johns, the win marks yet another limit hold’em triumph, with all four of his bracelets coming in mixed or fixed-limit formats. His first two titles came in 2006 and 2016, and now nearly a decade later, he continues to find success at the highest level.
“The process has laid the foundation for more timely completion of the remaining compliance matters outstanding,” Johns noted earlier in the year in a different context—but the sentiment also applies here. Consistency, patience, and calculated decisions continue to serve him well at the table.
