Xixiang Luo Grabs Third Bracelet With Wild Bomb Pot Victory in Event #24

Xixiang Luo has done something rarely seen at the World Series of Poker—win back-to-back titles in two closely related formats, all while mastering one of the most chaotic tournament structures on the schedule.

Good to know

  • Luo won the first-ever $1,500 PLO Double Board Bomb Pot event for $290,400.
  • This marks his third WSOP bracelet and second bomb pot-related title in two years.
  • Luo previously won the $25,000 HORSE high roller in 2024, earning over $725,000.

Xixiang Luo claimed his third WSOP bracelet by winning the debut $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Double Board Bomb Pot event, Event #24. He collected $290,400 for the win and added to a growing list of achievements that already includes two bracelet victories in 2024. Last year, he won a $1,500 mixed no-limit hold’em and PLO event, which included a single bomb pot hand per game rotation. This time, it was bomb pots every hand—no breaks, no change in format.

In Double Board Bomb Pot poker, every player antes pre-flop, and two flops are dealt out. Betting follows on the flop, turn, and river. Each board awards half the pot, and all action follows standard PLO rules—players must use exactly two hole cards and three board cards.

While the structure invites total chaos, Luo thrived. Despite the low buy-in, the final 13 players included six WSOP bracelet winners. Luo entered the final day with a narrow chip lead and built steadily, avoiding unnecessary showdowns and staying ahead even when briefly overtaken by Samuel Stranak.

The key turning point came in a monster pot against Brian Smith. Luo showed a full house on one board and a straight on the other to win both halves of the pot. That hand pushed him to 20 million in chips with only three opponents holding a combined 15 million.

Still, the path to victory was far from smooth. Robert Klein surged into the chip lead during four-handed play. But Luo recovered after both players flopped nine-high straights—Luo’s superior side hand gave him the scoop, which tilted the balance again.

Luo went into heads-up play with a 3-to-2 advantage against Klein. The chip lead swung back and forth, but Luo’s continued pressure wore Klein down. The final hand ended with Luo making an ace-high spade flush on one board and an unbeatable wheel on the other, while Klein had no outs to survive.

Luo’s 2024 run was already impressive. In addition to winning the $25,000 HORSE high roller, which brought him $725,796, he also finished fifth in one of the most competitive WSOP Player of the Year races ever. Now, with this win, he adds another unique milestone to his record. In addition to his WSOP success, Xixiang Luo also captured the China’s Xixiang Luo Clinches 2024 APT Jeju Main Event Title, Winning $311,735, adding $311,735 to his career earnings with that win.
