Jean-Vincent Lehut walked away with the top prize at the PokerStars Open Main Event in Namur after beating a field of 1,572 entries. The French high-stakes cash game regular secured €238,000, marking a massive step up from his previous tournament best of €30,200.

Lehut, who lives in Luxembourg, made a last-minute call to enter the event. He admitted he had not even arranged a place to stay for the full duration. “It was actually a last-minute decision to come here… I’m glad I did!” he said after his victory, speaking to reporters.

Despite keeping a low profile early in the event, Lehut turned up the heat on the final day. He steadily gained chips and then took full control after a decisive three-way all-in hand against Evert Rosseel and Ramdhane Ben Maamar. That single pot knocked Rosseel out, crippled Maamar, and gave Lehut the lead. “After this hand, I felt it was mine,” he said.

Alexandru Danes and Jort Hagedoorn were the first to bust at the final table. Julien Breuil followed after losing a flip to Jozef Cibicek. A key moment came when Lehut cold four-bet jammed with a pocket pair, winning against two opponents in a massive pot. After that, he kept applying pressure.

D’Alessio was knocked out in fourth when his ace-king lost to Barton’s kings, despite hitting the flop. Barton himself finished third, falling to Lehut in a cooler situation for €109,620.

In the final heads-up match, Lehut started with a 2:1 chip advantage over Cibicek. He caught the Slovakian bluffing right away, then sealed the win a hand later by making two pair against top pair. The battle ended quickly.

Although this win marks a major success, Lehut says it will not change his poker plans drastically. “I don’t think it will change too much, I’m a cash player, so it will help with that,” he said. He added that a holiday with his wife might come next.
