Blaz Zerjav Wins First WSOP Bracelet and $1.7M Prize in Event #22

Blaz Zerjav has officially added his name to the growing list of million-dollar winners at the 2025 World Series of Poker. The Slovenian online poker pro locked up his first WSOP gold bracelet in Event #22, the $25,000 High Roller 6-Handed, earning a career-best $1,734,717 in the process.

Good to know

  • Blaz Zerjav overcame a 336-player field that included multiple WSOP and WPT champions.
  • He started Day 3 near the bottom of the chip counts but made a strong comeback.
  • The win is Zerjav’s biggest live result to date and his first WSOP gold bracelet.

Known for his success on the online felt, Zerjav had already come close to major live wins. In 2020, he finished fourth in a $10,300 WPT Online Championship. More recently, he placed second in both the France Poker Series Paris Main Event and the $5,300 WSOP Paradise event in 2024. However, nothing matched the scale of his breakthrough at the WSOP this week.

Day 3 did not start smoothly. Among 15 returning players, Zerjav held one of the smallest stacks. Yet he quickly flipped momentum in his favor. After eliminating David Peters in a dramatic hand—making a straight on the river to beat pocket aces—Zerjav found rhythm. A runner-runner straight helped him pull ahead of Chris Moorman in another big pot.

His stack wavered in the middle of the day, especially after Mustapha Kanit doubled through him. But Zerjav stayed composed and turned things around again with a key double-up. He later outlasted a lineup packed with decorated players including Jared Bleznick, Dan Sepiol, Aram Oganyan, Landon Tice, and Moorman.

Final Table Drama

Once the final six were set, Zerjav faced steep competition. A huge moment came when he eliminated Oganyan with pocket queens that flopped quads. Despite a minor setback in three-handed play, he doubled through Moorman with queens versus fours, then seized control by winning a crucial flip with ace-queen against Moorman’s pocket nines.

On the final hand, Moorman’s ace-jack could not overcome Zerjav’s ace-king. The board ran dry, and Zerjav closed out the win.

Zerjav’s prize money makes him the fifth millionaire of this year’s WSOP and marks the biggest win of his career. Moorman, who finished second, earned $1,129,608—his fifth time reaching seven figures in a single live event.
