Merkur Gaming US has secured a new license from the Nevada Gaming Commission, clearing the way for the company to manufacture and distribute gaming products in the state once again.
Good to know
- Merkur had previously entered the Nevada market in 1998 but later exited in the early 2000s.
- The license approval coincides with an upcoming acquisition of Gaming Arts LLC.
- Merkur Group is looking to expand its footprint beyond Europe and South America.
After more than two decades, Merkur Gaming US, a subsidiary of the Germany-based Merkur Group, is returning to Nevada’s gaming sector with fresh approval from state regulators. The company had previously been licensed in Nevada in 1998 but withdrew from the market a few years later.
Now, with a new license in hand, Merkur can once again manufacture and distribute gaming products within the state. The move marks a renewed commitment to the U.S. market as part of a wider international expansion strategy.
Leaders see license as long-term growth driver
Lars Felderhoff, Chairman of Merkur Group’s Management Board, said the license supports the company’s broader international ambitions. “This license represents a key strategic lever for expanding our international business and lay the foundation for a stable and successful long-term future for the entire group,” he said.
Michael Gauselmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, who was involved when Merkur first entered Nevada, added that the new license reflects the group’s commitment to regulatory compliance. “With approval from Nevada, this moment serves to highlight and underscore the Merkur Group’s legally compliant and forward-looking approach in all areas without exception,” he said.
Acquisition of Gaming Arts LLC also approved
In addition to the licensing decision, the Nevada Gaming Commission has given the green light to Merkur’s acquisition of Gaming Arts LLC, a Nevada-based gaming operator. The deal is expected to close early in the third quarter of 2025.
Felderhoff emphasized the importance of that partnership. “The close and constructive partnership with Gaming Arts LLC has significantly contributed over the past months to successfully establishing all necessary prerequisites for the licensing as well as the upcoming acquisition. We are deeply grateful for the excellent cooperation,” he said.
