Aleksandr Shevliakov, a 37-year-old IT professional from Russia, has won the 2025 European Poker Tour (EPT) Monte Carlo Main Event, taking home €1,000,000 ($1,130,000) in prize money. He qualified for the €5,300 no-limit hold’em tournament through a €530 online satellite on PokerStars, turning a modest entry fee into a life-changing payday.

A big boost for Shevliakov

Shevliakov entered the final table trailing a few others in chips but played steadily across the session. He secured the title after an intense heads-up battle with Ukraine’s Khossein Kokhestani. With this win, Shevliakov more than doubled his total live earnings and fulfilled a long-held personal dream.

“I won. It’s a dream come true. This is it,” he said in a brief but emotional reaction after the final hand.

Kokhestani, a past Eureka Poker Tour champion, earned $694,950 for second place. His lifetime tournament earnings now sit above $816,000.
