After years of planning, the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians of California has secured the money needed to begin building its long-awaited casino and resort near Madera. A financing deal worth close to $725 million has been finalized, giving the tribe the green light to move forward.

The funding comes through a delayed draw term loan facility involving a group of lenders led by VICI Properties, a real estate investment trust based in New York. The North Fork Rancheria Economic Development Authority (NFR EDAB), the tribe’s business arm, signed the agreement on behalf of the tribe.
Construction to be led by long-time partners
Red Rock Resorts and Station Casinos, both based in Las Vegas, will handle development and operations. They have worked with the tribe on the project for more than 20 years.
“Red Rock Resorts and its affiliate Station Casino have been constant, dedicated partners of the tribe for over 20 years,” said Tribal Chairman Fred Beihn.
Tribal President Elaine Bethel-Fink added, “We appreciate the vision and hard work of the financing team to make this deal a reality. We are proud and delighted to be on the same team.”
Tribal Treasurer Maryann McGovran emphasized the community impact: “We appreciate everything Station and the lenders have contributed to our two decade-long dream of bringing jobs and economic development to our tribe and community.”
Casino details and what to expect
The new North Fork Mono Casino & Resort will feature 2,400 slot machines, 40 table games, two full-service restaurants, a food hall, three bars, a small retail area, and a parking structure with multiple levels. There will also be outdoor space for RVs and large vehicles, catering to visitors who travel longer distances.
The resort will be built just north of Madera, along California State Highway 99, on federal trust land owned by the tribe.
Project milestones already underway
In March, the tribe marked a key milestone in construction — the topping out of the final steel beam on the resort’s external frame. The event brought together tribal leaders, construction crews, and design teams to celebrate the structure taking shape.
Tribal Secretary Christina McDonald summed up the tribe’s feeling: “Today our dream is closer than ever with the financing in place.”
Now, with funding secured and construction underway, the casino and resort project finally moves from vision to reality.
