Gaming Corps, a game development company based in Sweden and listed publicly, has received approval from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). The new license allows Gaming Corps to develop and distribute its games in Ontario, one of North America’s most commercially valuable and tightly regulated iGaming markets.
Good to know
With licensing secured, Gaming Corps has already signed deals with several Ontario-licensed operators. The company is preparing a strategic content rollout, aiming to meet local demand by launching sports-themed titles such as Hoop Champion and Shootout Champion.
CEO Juha Kauppinen shared his views on the achievement, stating, “Being approved for a license in Ontario is a major achievement and a clear validation of the quality, integrity, and compliance standards we uphold. Ontario is not only one of the most regulated iGaming markets in the world, but also a gateway into the wider North American region. This license opens up significant opportunities for Gaming Corps and reinforces our commitment to working only within licensed and regulated jurisdictions. With a growing appetite for original content, we’re excited about the potential Ontario holds – both in terms of player engagement and long-term growth.”
Ontario, home to over 15 million people, has quickly grown into a major hub for online gaming since it opened to private operators in 2022. According to iGaming Ontario, the province pulled in more than CAD 2.4 billion in gross revenue last year, with over 1.2 million active player accounts and more than 40 licensed operators supporting that growth.
Gaming Corps’ portfolio, known for its non-traditional game formats and proprietary engines, fits well with Ontario’s appetite for unique digital content. Beyond the initial launches, Gaming Corps is also working on new collaborations, targeting partnerships with local operators, including those linked to major sports brands.
