Poker is returning to Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. After shutting down the room in 2021, the property is opening a new and larger poker space next month, located on an elevated area above the main gaming floor.
Good to know
The upgraded room will include 23 tables, 12 of which will be reserved for cash games. The new layout is designed to give players a clear view of the casino floor below, creating a more open and connected playing experience. “I don’t think there’s a poker room on an elevated level like this that has an overview of everything going on below you,” said room manager and industry veteran Anthony Mink.
Construction is still underway, but the venue is already set to offer several features. Among them are a gothic interior, 21 televisions, a full-service bar, and a bathroom attached directly to the poker room. There will also be framed posters from Las Vegas-themed films decorating the space.
Tournament play is also coming back. The property will use two side rooms next to the main area—one for daily tournaments and another for high-stakes games. Staff are even considering the possibility of live-streaming some of the cash games.
The new space will mark the return of the World Series of Poker Circuit to Planet Hollywood. Ownership plans to host two annual Circuit stops, reviving a tradition last seen in November 2019, when Michael Trivett won the $1,700 main event and collected over $215,000.
Kicking things off, a new mixed game series is already on the calendar, running from May 12 to 20.
Management has said the new room is not meant to compete with the largest poker venues on the Strip. Instead, it will focus on mid-stakes and entry-level games, with tournament buy-ins starting at $100. That approach could appeal to a broader group of players, especially during the upcoming WSOP season.
