VIP Play is moving beyond Tennessee* after securing an interim license to operate online gaming and mobile sports betting in West Virginia. The company received the license from the state following its partnership with Delaware North’s Wheeling Island Casino.
With this approval, VIP Play is set to enter both the iGaming and mobile betting markets in the state. The company plans to roll out its services in West Virginia in the coming months. West Virginia is one of the few states where both mobile sports betting and full iGaming are legal. For VIP Play, the move into this state opens up access to a small but growing group of markets with full digital gaming options.
In a public statement, VIP Play said:
“This milestone marks the company’s initial expansion beyond Tennessee, where it currently operates as a mobile sports wagering operator.
“The interim license in West Virginia also adds iGaming to the company’s book of business and allows VIP Play to participate in the rapidly expanding iGaming industry.”
CEO and Chairman Bruce Cassidy also shared his thoughts:
“The acquisition of our interim Sports Wagering and iGaming License in West Virginia marks a significant milestone in our journey to expand, underscoring our commitment to provide innovative experiences to a wider audience.
“As we grow our presence, our dedication to excellence stands firm, and we’re excited to play a role in enriching West Virginia’s dynamic gaming community.”
Sports betting is now legal in 38 states and the District of Columbia. Online gaming, however, is available in far fewer places. Only seven U.S. states currently allow some form of iGaming. These are Pennsylvania, Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey, Rhode Island, West Virginia, and Connecticut. In some states, iGaming is limited to specific formats such as online poker.
*VIP Play, Inc. (formerly known as KeyStar Corp.) operates online gambling software, currently doing business as ZenSports in the state ofTennessee, licensed and regulated under the Tenneessee Sports Wagering Council.
