Michigan Orders Lucky Tiger and Rich Palms to Stop Online Gambling

Two online casinos, Lucky Tiger Casino and Rich Palms Casino, have been told to stop all gambling operations in Michigan. The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) sent cease-and-desist letters after confirming both sites were offering unlicensed online games to players in the state.

The casinos are operated by Alistair Solutions, a company based in Curaçao. The MGCB launched an investigation after receiving a tip-off. That probe concluded both sites were breaking several state laws, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code.

Now, both casinos have 14 days from the date of the order to pull their services from Michigan. If they do not comply, they may face fines and further legal consequences.

The board has been stepping up enforcement this year. In February, it issued nine letters to operators, including BetNow. In March, five more cease-and-desist letters followed. Just last week, the MGCB sent 10 such letters in a single wave, showing its intention to crack down on unlicensed operators.

MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams addressed the situation directly. “The Michigan Gaming Control Board will continue to make it clear that any operator found to be operating unlawfully will face appropriate consequences.

“This agency has zero tolerance for illegal gambling. We will continue to exercise our regulatory oversight and authority to protect the interests of Michigan citizens and licensed operators and ensure that all online gambling activities available here are compliant with the law.”

Michigan’s online gambling market has been growing steadily. In February alone, iGaming and sports betting brought in $268.5 million in revenue. With more money flowing into the legal market, the MGCB has taken more steps to protect it.
