Illegal Gambling Sites Are Targeting Arizona Players

Online gambling scams are rising in Arizona, and the Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) has raised a red flag. A new Consumer Protection Alert warns residents about a growing number of illegal online casinos targeting players in the state.

Arizona hasn’t legalized online casino gambling. So, any website claiming to offer legal games of chance should be viewed with suspicion. According to the ADG, “it is important to remember that just because you can download the app, visit the website, and play the games, it does not mean it is a legitimate and legal gaming platform.”

Some of these unregulated websites go a step further by copying the branding of well-known operators. They may use similar company names, matching logos, and lookalike URLs to appear legitimate. This can confuse users and make it harder to tell a legal platform from a fake one.

Playing on these sites can expose players to serious risks. Customers could face unauthorized transactions, identity theft, or other types of fraud. Unlike regulated operators, these illegal platforms don’t follow any oversight or consumer protection rules.

Players looking for a safe experience can check the ADG website for the official list of licensed casino, event wagering, and fantasy sports operators. That’s the only way to be sure a platform is legal in Arizona.

The ADG is also asking the public to help stop the spread of these operations. If players come across suspicious gambling sites, they should report the app, website URL, business name, or any marketing material directly to the agency.
