The Grand Island Casino Resort will officially unveil its permanent location on April 10 at 6 p.m., marking a major step for Nebraska’s gaming and tourism industry. Approved unanimously by the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission, the resort will operate 24 hours a day, all year round.
The $185 million seven-story facility features 162 hotel rooms, multiple dining options, and entertainment venues, solidifying its status as a premier destination for both locals and tourists.
“This is entertainment, this is a resort destination,” said Casino General Manager Vince Fiala. “It’s not just to come and gamble. If you want to come here and eat, you want to come stay at the hotel; please do. I mean that’s what we’re here for. It is a getaway for the weekend.”
Expanded Gaming and Entertainment Offerings
The casino will introduce 20 live table games, including blackjack, craps, roulette, Pai Gow, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, and Mississippi Stud. Notably, it will house Nebraska’s first poker room and feature 750 slot machines, with 650 on the main floor and the remaining in a dedicated smoking lounge.
Beyond gaming, guests can enjoy live entertainment on weekends at the resort’s show lounge.
The resort’s dining options include:
-
Ruthie’s Steak and Seafood: A fine-dining restaurant on the seventh floor.
-
22 & Vine Café: Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
-
Draft Day Sports Bar: A 21+ venue offering sports betting.

Additional amenities include a banquet hall with 200 seats and an outdoor patio for events. Guests can unwind at the resort’s indoor and outdoor pools, spa, sauna, and European-style cold room.
Grand Island Casino has grown from employing 135 people to almost 400 since its temporary opening in December 2022. The resort now has 1,100 freshly paved parking spots in place of a garage, and on busy days, shuttle buses and golf carts are available.
Additionally, the casino has benefited the horse racing sector in Nebraska. Its collaboration with Fonner Park has given the Nebraska Thoroughbred Breeders Association $700,000 and $2.5 million to the track’s purse money.
The resort has improved the viewing experience for racing enthusiasts by installing two sizable LED displays to guarantee unhindered viewing from the horse racing clubhouse.
